Date(s) - Thursday, May 2, 2019
2:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The UCLA Electrical and Computer Engineering 2019 Annual Research Review (ARR) will be held this year on Thursday and Friday, May 2-3, 2019. As we did last year, we are hosting our “Afternoon with Industry” on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 2:00 to 8:00pm, and the formal ARR with technical talks on Friday, May 3, 2019.
The intent of the Thursday “Afternoon with Industry” is to provide an informal venue for industry representatives, research scientists, and alumni to mingle with students and faculty. This event allows more time to engage in deeper discussions on topics such as specific project experience of students, research collaborations, or educational support.
This year, we feature 2 key components:
(1) a TechTalk by Professor Dejan Markovic on his neural interface research at the end of the afternoon.
(2) a poster session of research by our graduate/undergraduate students through the entire afternoon. This addition addresses the feedback from prior ARRs that suggested more time allotted for visitors to spend on the research posters.
A dinner reception will follow the talk on the 5th Floor of Engineering 6.
While the event is not toward formal talent acquisition, this provides an opportunity for students to learn more about industry ahead of the Fall recruiting season. Similar to last year, a student resume book will be available to help industry recruiting representatives to align any discussions with specific students prior to the event.
Because this event is held at a different location and one-day prior to the main ARR event on Friday May 3, we are asking attendees to register separately for this portion of the event so we can properly account for parking, food, and other logistics. Our students will also be able to know in advance which companies are participating. Please do not forget to register for the main ARR Friday event itself.
Time slots are available at the adjacent Mong Auditorium for industry information sessions. Additional rooms within the Engineering School are available as well to hold separate information sessions or candidate interviews. If you would like to inquire about availability of the time slot or rooms please contact: Tricia Senate (email@example.com ).
